House was built in 1819. Shop is named for John Steele, a founder of Hartford and first clerk of the Connecticut Colony. He was among three who explored the Litchfield area in 1657, signed a trade treaty with the Indians. Shop owned by Steele descendants, who specialize in works on county history. Located near the historic Litchfield Green, it's the perfect place to find the book you've been searching for. And if it isn't in stock, our worldwide searches are free!
